Love Wins
davidvsgoliath
David Haye will step in to a ring with Nikolai Valuev on November 7 as he bids to become boxing’s heavyweight champion of the world.
This boxing match has been billed as David vs Goliath.
Nikolai Valuev is the tallest (7 ft) and heaviest (323 pounds) world champion in boxing history. He’s so big he usually steps into the ring over the top rope, and is so big that most boxers would have barely been able to land a hook as high as his belly, if they had the nerve to try.
David Haye is 6ft 2 and weighs around 200 pounds which is comparatively very small for a heavyweight boxer. Valuev who has already won 50 matches fights, 32 of those wins coming by knockout.
Valuev is obviously the overwhelming favorite in this fight, Daye Haye is hoping that his five stones to throw against Goliath will he his speed.
I will be rooting for David Haye in November, hoping that David will once again defy odds and defeat Goliath.
“So David triumphed over the Philistine with a sling and a stone; without a sword in his hand he struck down the Philistine and killed him.” 1 Samuel 17:50
Nooma - Open
Rob Bell at his best, found it really inspiring.
Open was helpful to me, as I’m co-ordinating with others another 24 hour prayer event at my Church.

At Church on Sunday you would think picking someone to read scripture would be an easy procedure.
Well apparently to some this is not an easy procedure, and should be a very thought out task.
Why should picking someone to pray in the congregation be such a difficult task?
Because a few people think that the person praying should speak Queen’s English when reading the Bible as it is more aesthetically pleasing to the people listening.
In my opinion God’s word is God’s word, and it does not matter how it is read.
Thankfully, the people who moan and pick holes in Sunday morning services are not the people in leadership and co-ordinating who speaks from the Bible on a Sunday.
The Bible is for everyone, just as God is for everyone.
It does not matter how you speak and where you are from you can read the Bible.
The Bible has been translated in so many different ways, so that everyone can understand what God is trying to say to them.
runningtherace
When I run a long distance race towards the end, I start getting tired and every muscle in my weary legs start to hurt. I start to lose my breath and ponder walking the last few miles or even stopping and giving up completely. But I carry on for the sense of personal achievement it brings and the crappy plastic medal.
Well my relationship with God is not much different from my ‘amateur’ long distance running. Jesus has already done the hard work for me, he’s died on the cross and won the race. All I have to do is run just a little bit further and cross the line.
Why this little bit of running at the end Is so hard, is because it hurts.
Following God hurts. God is love and he hurts, he was hurt when Jesus had to die so he could have a relationship with us.
Following God hurts, because love hurts. To truly love someone, you hurt when their hurting. Following God calls us to love everyone, and although all Christians fail at loving everyone we all have a particular love/passion that God has placed upon our heart. For me personally that love is supporting young people.
If we accept the hurt that God had when his Jesus died on a cross, we must as followers of Christ accept his hurt for the people he laid on our heart. Thus making the Christian journey painful
I have thought about and questioned my faith many times and questioned giving up many times and just taking my faith a little easier, perhaps taking a diversion to have a rest.
But God has reminded me of how far he has carried me on this race and how much I can make a difference in young peoples lives and help carry them in this race.
Well there must be a prize for running the race of life for God?
Good news for me is that is prize is not a crappy plastic medal but eternal life of peace and happiness in Jesus.
“For in him we live, and move, and have our being…” Acts 17:28
“I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus” Philippians 3:14
